Dear Thom:
Nearly everyone in your chatroom is concerned about losing Hipchat. While we would like to keep the chat as it is, we understand you want to make some changes. We assume you no longer want to be responsible for this chat, particularly now with SueN retired. If that is true, we would like to help bring about a solution that might work for both our concerns. We would like you to consider a few ideas that could help to remedy this situation.
First, all the chatters came to us as listeners from your show. This shared interest is the catalyst for this chat room's many years.
You are aware we are a diverse group -- moderate and conservative, progressive and even further left. Yes, even though there are plenty of democrat forums online, none of them offer the personal - immediate and direct conversation opportunity we offer 24 hours a day from people who are Hartmann friendly and knowledgeable.
We have great conversations in which we agree and then agree to disagree, We have also managed to develop some strong relationships over the years. We are unique. We are a distinct community, with the core membership knowing each other over a decade in the chat.
Not Facebook nor the Youtube chat stream can duplicate the immediacy of our personal conversations.
So keeping our chat alive in important, and to keep us together the last week the core group created a chat room in a different program. A very nice chat room, The downside is Thom Hartmann listeners won't know about it.
So here are a few of our best ideas we hope you will consider.
Would you consider turning the chat room over to us, removing all your responsibility and direct involvement - giving us full administrative rights? Two people have volunteered to moderate the group. One is Wyzz, the man who created all our wonderful icons over the years, and the other is Four of Nine. Both have been with the chat over10 years. Retired, stable and mature, I think they would be excellent moderators.
Then once you no longer bear any responsibility for us, we can change the name of this HipChat room to: The "Thom Hartmann Unofficial Chat Room".
We want to keep your name on the chat because we believe we are some of your most loyal listeners, and we want other listeners to be aware that we exist and to come join us. We all come from Thom Hartmann's University.
We would also like this new Thom Hartmann Unofficial Chat Room, to have a link on your website if possible. And of course, with the disclaimer that you are not responsible in any way for this chat group as It is totally administered by your fans.
That would be an ideal solution for us and we hope this idea could also alleviate your concerns about this chatroom.
We look forward to hearing from you.
